History of P.P.T
In October of 1993, Mr. Barnett began his research and formulation of the concepts that would become Personal Protection Techniques. Having taught self-defense to a number of his exercise clients over the years, as well as drawing on his experience in security and loss prevention, Roy realized there was a lack of REAL education in the psychological and physiological changes one goes through in a dangerous situation.
Roy knew too well having been a victim of a crime with his father at the age of 8 on a trip to the movies with his father, and again at 19 as a service station attendant.
With these things in mind, and having parents, who, although they were regular working people, never failed to set an example of helping others, he began P.P.T Enterprises.
Roy is dedicated to bring an EDUCATION to the public that in these times is very much a necessity.
In 1999, he created his own program for kids called C.A.R.E., for Children’s Awareness and Response Education, which teaches non-violent conflict resolvement as well as bullying prevention, while also raising awareness for safety from abduction by teaching strategies and physical techniques.
Publishing and Media
Roy has been published in Michigan Women’s Health Style Magazine with articles on mother/child and senior safety and as of summer 2002 he became a contributing writer to Crimefighter Magazine, dedicated to the public’s safety from crime. He has appeared regularly on Detroit’s Fox-2 since 1996, with an appearance on WXYZ Channel 7 Action News for Holiday safety and ID theft. He also has been heard on WNIC’s 100.3 Breakfast Club and WKRK 97.1 FM Talk Radio.

Roy also commits time to serve his community as member of the Martial Arts Partners for Peace, an organization founded by Dr. Terrance Webster-Doyle, award winning author and clinical psychologist, whose purpose is teaching children to understand conflict and resolve it in a non-violent manner.
