Then comes the horror of COLUMBINE HIGH SCHOOL, where two boys who were considered "unworthy" by the
"Cool Kids", and constantly made fun of and bullied, took revenge on their tormentors, without regard for the innocent people who might also be harmed. In their eyes, no one was "innocent".

Lack of self esteem. Bullying. Drug Abuse. Abduction. Child Predators who use the "shield" of the Internet to strike. Nowadays, our kids seem to have more of the worse possible concerns, than at any other time in our nations history. Parents, Teachers, School administrators are all struggling to find ways to help kids cope, but most often address these things individually.

PPT has a different approach that can make the process better, and, integrating. PPT has developed a program geared to educating children about safety, as well as encouraging them to become good citizens involved in their community. The program is called:

Children's Awareness and Response Education

C.A.R.E. uses a curriculum approach to teach kids to be safe from the possibility of abduction. It teaches them to recognize the "lures" and tricks predators use to bring them to harm.

It teaches them strategies to protect themselves from school violence, whether it be Bullying, one of the nations fastest growing concerns, drug abuse, and ways to resolve conflict Non-violently. In these times of rising chilhood obesity, proper exercise and nutrition is
presented.

It encourages Self Esteem, Discipline, Honor, and Respect for ones self, and others. Making a commitment to serving your community through volunteer work is also emphasized. Although the use of physical techniques is sometimes a necessity in the case of Bullies, or Abduction, a reviously well thought out PLAN of strategies, using your MIND FIRST, is the best option.

Constant review, and updated research of the latest children health and safety information, keeps the program fresh and meaningful. We use both video and books to provide a well rounded, and fun education. The books we use, are written by internationally respected and acclaimed children's author, Dr. TERRANCE WEBSTER-DOYLE, children's psychologist, and school counselor, from elementary to college level. "Dr.T" as he is fondly called, is also a philosopher-martial artist, and mentor to PPT creator, Roy Barnett. The books he has written that we use include, Tug of War-Peace Through Understanding Conflic", Why Are They Always Picking on Me", and "Why Are They Always Picking On Us, one of his newest that talks about dealing with racial, religious, and ethnic predjudice.

By teaching children what conflict is, guiding them to understand how conflict develops in you, as an individual, then showing them how to resolve it within, it helps to recognize conflict in others, and resolve it, NON-VIOLENTLY, when possible, by using viable solutions. Realizing that sometimes, events warrant physical action, techniques derived from 30-plus years of martial arts experience in various disciplines, are taught for Escape or Restraint only, and are age appropriate.

We also use educational materials from resources like the CENTER for MISSING and EXPLOITED CHILDREN, to teach Awareness, Internet Responsibility, Fire Safety, and more.

Teaching respect for self, parents and others, helps to motivate an understanding of our country's strengths of diversity, yet commonality. Utilizing that knowledge, C.A.R.E. promotes community involvement for everyone's benefit. PPT's C.A.R.E. Program is a unique and FUN way to promote safety, and good health. We have used the program's exercise concepts in PONTIAC, MI. Elementary schools to supplement their physical education in 2002-2003, with great success. It can be taught on an individual basis, to groups like the Boy & Girls Scouts, Families, Church Youth Clubs, Day care Centers, Public and Private Schools, and other childrens groups.
