Progressive Personal Training: "Fuel for the BODY and MIND"
The 4th one of our PPT "MUST"(Muscle Utilization and Sensory Techniques)is "Mind set and Nutrition".

You need to be proactive and positive mentally in order to stay consistent. In order to stay consistent, your body and mind require proper "fuel" to burn for their functionality. DEPRIVATION DIETS DON'T WORK! Let us say that again. Depriving yourself of carbs, or protein, or fats, doesn't work! You MUST have a correct balance of Carbs, Lean Proteins, and Essential Fats, in order to sustain good health in Mind, and Body.

Some people have food allergies. Some foods don't interact well with certain medications. So, once again, you have to take an active role in your health, because NO ONE knows you better than you! Your doctor even requires input from you to know where to begin to do whatever is necessary to help you with a concern. So, "lets get on the SticK!"

How do you begin to know what is right? Got an answer for you. From our research, we've found a good foundation to "spring" from. BILL PHILLIPS! Name sound familiar? He is the NEW YORK TIMES #1 BEST SELLER author of BODY for LIFE, and the Founder and former CEO of EAS (Experimental and Applied Sciences) Nutrition, and publisher of MUSCLE MEDIA magazine. His "Body for Life Transformation" contest was the first competition for the regular public, not athletes, and was one of the most successful exercise and health motivation programs ever presented, rivaling TONY ROBBINS.

Now he has written, EATING for LIFE, which expounds on what he believes, based on research, are the two "Keys" to eating right: First, "...you have to know what to do, Second, you must DO what you know!" The book is all about discovering how to nourish your body the right way, and then learning how to apply the information, for better health, reduction of body fat, and gains in energy.

Phillips says, "Diets, all of them, are potentially dangerous, most always dumb, and ultimately a dead end street." He encourages a safe and sound solution which includes eating balanced, high nutrient meals, frequently throughout the day. It is a common sense approach that matches the research that PPT has done on its own, and is why we recommend Eating for Life as a guideline.

Scientific research, done by expert David Kennedy, shows carbs are essential to strength, as found by a University of Connecticut study, when they had exercisers switch from a carb and protein balanced nutrition PLAN(not a diet), to a "ketogenic diet" of low carbs, and high amounts of protein and fat. They lost an average 7 to 9 percent of muscular power over a six week period.

In another study presented before 12,000 scientists at the 2003 Experimental Biology Conference in San Diego, Beth Zupec-Kania,R.D. C.D., a dietician at Children's Hospital of Wisconsin, found in her analysis of a 1250 calorie low carb diet, 24 essential micro nutrients were evaluated, and disturbingly, 19 of them were below the Dietary Reference Intakes(DRI)needed for good health.

Micro nutrient deficiencies could, as seen in studies by Dr. Bruce Ames, professor of molecular and cell biology at the University of California-Berkeley, might be a probable cause of mitochondrial DNA damage, that could lead to Premature Aging, Cancer, or degenerative diseases like Alzheimer's or Parkinson's.

So, with that in mind, the best approach is a proper balance of Carbs, Lean Proteins, and Essential Fats. "Eating for Life" has this in mind in the many recipes it has in the book. PPT recommends you purchase the book, as well as consult with your family physician if you have some concerns. We have a link so you can purchase through us. HAPPY EATING!
